  1. Most internet marketers who are having success these days are using Cost-Per-Action, or CPA offers. This is because publishers don’t need to complete high cost sales in order to get credited for a conversion.

    Hi Paul,
Everyone talks about traffic and how you have to get it, but no one tells you how to get it if you have no money, or if money is very tight. Almost everyone wants to tell you after you give them $47. Half the time the information in these books is either totally useless or it costs more money to implement.

If you could talk about that, it would be terrific.

  5. I haven’t been able to watch your most recent webinars Paul but the ones I have watched are certainly very helpful.

What I want to do is make a short video to upload to YouTube and other channels as I believe this is a good way to drive traffic to my site.

I am going to be very nervous and won’t know what to say and wondered if I should just try to make one from a powerpoint presentation. This is all going to be new for me and a huge learning curve.

Do you have any advice and should I send people to my blog where I have my free gift banner in the sidebar or to directly to my squeeze page?

Your opinion or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Sandy,

It’s worth you taking a look at this post: http://paulteague.com/2010/05/26/i-just-made-a-promo-video-on-animoto-com/

This was a free service I tried out the other day because I liked a demo that a friend had sent me.

I knocked my own promo video up in minutes and had it listed on YouTube in no time.

If you’re worried about speaking on videos or how to make Powerpoint videos, this takes all that initial pressure off you.

It also means you can start off your YouTube channel straight away and start to move traffic over to your blog.

Here’s my own YouTube channel which I’ve had for some time, but it hasn’t really moved beyond an experiment for me yet: http://www.youtube.com/user/WebWorkAtHome

As to where you send them, I think that can vary.

I send people from YouTube to my blog, and then try to capture their email on my blog.

There’s no reason why you couldn’t try a squeeze page … depend whether you want to go for a ‘customer for life’ with the blog option, or the ‘instant sell’ with the squeeze page.

My personal preference would be to move them into my sales funnel … YouTube first, blog next, sales funnel next.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Paul,

Here is specifically what I find myself needing. There are a couple of step by step programs (with lots of details, video training etc.) I am considering
    getting. (something less than $100)
I’ll admit to jumping from one thing to the next, although I have learned quite a lot in the process. I find I get discouraged when working on my own and would like to find an “online accountability partner”, so to speak.

In other words, I would like to work a program (one with VERY specific steps, loads of video training, support and details) ALONG WITH another person. We would take each step of the program, work it, compare notes, and be accountable for doing what we said we would do. Does this make sense? I can’t really afford to pay someone a bundle for personal mentoring and accountability plus I don’t want to be “on my own” in the process.

Each person would, of course, have their own business and site, niche etc.

Well there you have where I am at.
    What do you think?

Thanks for all the great info Paul. I can’t always make the webinars you have, especially on Sundays, but I get a bunch out of them when I do.

    Thanks Paul,

    Robin

The main thing here Robin is a) don’t keep jumping from one thing to another b) take action … any targeted action … but take action and make progress.

You sound to me like you’d benefit hugely from being part of a group or a forum … I take it you missed the Alex Jeffreys coaching program, because peer support doesn’t come much stronger thatn you get with that group!

Can I also recommend another really strong community?

I built this website using a product called Site Build It! which I still use: http://www.web-work-at-home.com/

What I particularly like about Site Build It! is a) the wonderful step-by-step support you get b) the incredible sense of community support that’s available via the members only forums

Check it out and see what you think: http://freetrial.sitesell.com/websiteacademy.html … it’s all no commitment, take a trial etc, but it sound like it might give you the sort of day-by-day support and encouragement that it sounds like you’d appreciate.

Although I’ve moved into other areas since creating that site, I check out the forums myself daily and I use the wonderful key-wording tool that’s contained in the package as I’ve found nothing more powerful yet to locate lucrative keywords :-)

Hope that’s useful for you, Paul

I’ll tell you my policy with this.

I make webinar replays available to everyone who attended the live event or who registered but was unable to attend … so always register even if you can’t make it.

My longer term plans with all my webinars is to turn them into physical products on Kunaki.com and make them available as bonus products for some membership sites which I have in development.

However, I’m also working on a free membership area on this blog which I’m planning to make available to my subscribers only in the longer term … to enable them to access most of what I produce.

I know you’re hugely committed to making IM work, so if there’s anything in particular that you’d like the replay for, just let me know :-)

    All the best, Paul

Something which is a little unrelated, but I’m sure I’m not the only one to struggle with is time management. There is so much info, advice, things to watch, read, etc etc. I have found it easy to spend all my time learning, and not much doing. Obviously the learning is paramount but if none of it is getting put into action it causes problems!!
I seem to have found a balance by being v strict with my diary and allowing some time to learn and some to implement, but ineveitabley, things take longer than expected, or you click a link which has more good info you want to take in……..
After the ramble I suppose I am asking how you manage your time?!

Another thing I’d like to get some info on is outsourcing. I see a lot of people talking about it, but where do you go to find people to outsource to, how do you know what to charge them and how do you know if they’re any good, are reliable and can meet deadiines?

Do you know of any software which could be used for this purpose?

Hi Rolf, I can give you a nice quick answer to this one!

Two sites that you need to look at:

    CB Trends

    CB Engine

Harvey Segal is the ‘king of Clickbank’ and I thoroughly recommend that you take a read of his free guide, I have all of Harvey’s info on my hard drive, he’s very good.

Finally, Jeff Dedrick just released a new bit of software that automatically rotates the Clickbank best sellers as banner ads on your websites, so in theory, it’ll save you doing all the hard work and selection.

  23. Hi Paul

This is another great idea for generating traffic to your blog.

If you number all the comments including your own replies does this mean that you are also in the competition?

The one thing I would like to get in a webinar is how to turn a blog into a squeeze page, oto page, download page etc. I think these would all be a similar process and might depend on the theme selected.

If I am lucky enough to win I would like a blog set up as the above.

    Richard

    [Reply]

    Paul Teague Reply:

Hi Richard, just a quick reply, my comments don’t count, only original comments from other people count in the ‘win a blog’ competition.

I just thought that I can give some of the comments here such quick answers from my own experience and knowledge that I would do that rather than keep people hanging on.

So many things in this business can be fixed quickly if someone gives you the knowledge to take the right action … so where I can give a quick answer to help, I will, where other questions need a bit more time, I’ll save these and use them for future emails or blog posts.

This thread has developed a life of its own, it’s had such a great response, so when I do the selection process I’ll record it on Camtasia and if the comment number selected is one of my own, I’ll generate another random number until I get to someone else’s comment.

    Cheers, Paul

I’m interested in affiliate marketing. I have a ton of plr articles on my computer. I also am competent enough to rewrite or write my own articles. I’m not really sure how to use these for example: How do I use these articles on blogs, squidoo, hubpages, article directories. Can I post the same article on all the different directories and how would I link all these together. Also, should I point my resource box directly to an affiliate page via a domain redirect. Can I point to a squidoo page or blogger blog under the terms of the directory.

Also, because I’ve recently put up a couple of blogs on blogger and started to make a little adsense revenue, I recently got a $100 gift card from google for adwords that I need to use reasonably soon. I understand that this is a good opportunity for me to learn and get familiar with adwords but I’m also hoping to make a little money with that $100 of free advertising. Wondering what I should promote. A digital IM product, something that is just being launched, a niche product, digital versus physical product, or maybe a CPA offer through maybe Neverblue (since I’m new to this).

Any insights and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Paul
What are your thoughts on auto content and mass article marketing? Content seems to be all the rage at present and thousands of inbound links a way to get to the top of the search engines.

As an alternative, would you use Adwords or similar PPC marketing?

    Les

    [Reply]

    Paul Teague Reply:

Interesting question this Les, as it’s something that we’ve just been discussing at Chris Freville’s Mastermind Group … and even a room full of internet marketers didn’t agree :-)

Let me give you my take on it.

I don’t believe in auto content for a very good reason.

I think that there is absolutely no substitute for well key-worded, quality, original content.

I also think that trying to ‘Google cheat’ is a bad game to play.

There’s no point trying to ‘out-Google’ or ‘second guess’ Google.

This is not a popular view and the gimmick chasers will be quick to rubbish it.

Google will never penalize uniquely written, high quality content … why would it?

If you over-deliver great content, your readers will love you … and so will Google … and you will set your business on firm foundations.

It’s not as ‘cool’ or ‘in’ as some techniques, but there is no substitution for quality content.

Having said that, high quality, well key-worded content is what it’s all about.

Check out this free e-book, it goes through my views in more detail than I can here:

    http://mycps.sitesell.com/websiteacademy.html

Content creation in strong niches is undoubtedly a great strategy, when I did it I went into the crowded are of Internet Marketing and shouldn’t have.

My mentor Chris Freville created an excellent product based on his own success in niches where he explains all of this in much more detail, but content + strong niches is a wonderful combination.

The other thing is, I would not use Adwords or PPC marketing unless I had had some expert training or coaching first.

This is a potential money pit for the newbie.

I read Google AdWords For Dummies after wasting a couple of hundred dollars playing around with it and decided that I wasn’t going to touch it again until a) I was making good money and could afford it b) I’d got some coaching and advice.

I recently interviewed UK marketer Ben Brooks who admitted that he ran up huge debts on PPC ($30k!) before he made his IM breakthrough … there’s some good advice in here:

    http://paulteague.com/webinars/ben-brooks-list-building-masterclass-webinar-replay.htm

If you’re new to Internet Marketing, I’d have to say that although the article writing/back linking route is very important, it’s extremely time consuming … and all that most people want to do is make their first buck online!

I tried article marketing early in my IM career (look, I’m even an expert author: http://ezinearticles.com/?expert_bio=Paul_Teague) and I built myself a key-worded content site which makes me a small and steady income at http://www.web-work-at-home.com … in fact it brought me my first income online.

So what do I personally recommend?

My breakthrough came with Giveaways … nothing really took off until that point.

Build a list of 1000 using Giveaways, that gives you credibility and leverage.

Do it properly and seriously, it’ll take you three months.

Build yourself a blog … that will create an online brand for you, a place where you can give value to your subscribers (like I’m doing here I hope!)

When your list gets to 1000, start ad-swaps … build relationships with other marketers, learn how to work with your subscribers.

That’s what I’d recommend to get started.

When you start to make money, look at outsourcing … your outsourcer can take on the time-consuming, important, but thankless task of creating original content, backlinks, social media marketing and so on.

But the most important thing for most people is to make that first buck online.

You wanted an answer, I wrote you an essay :-)

I hope that’s useful Les, remember there are other takes on this, and this is my personal view.

I suggest you look at that free e-book as it makes it all much clearer.

    All the best, Paul

PS This is actually a great site set up by my IM pal Marc Milburn, and it boils it all down to basics … you need to make your first dollar online asap.

Hi Kate, thanks very much for your comments.

If you’re after more web traffic, then you’re suffering from the number 2 internet marketer’s problem.

What do I want to see in your emails?

Well I signed up during the 2010 new year giveaway, so I am interested in emails about giveaways where I can sign up to get more subscribers.

    Hi Joe,

Here’s the key link for Giveaways information:

I also did a webinar recently on how to perform better in Giveaways – is this any use to you?

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for the information so far!

I would really like to know how to find out what people are asking for and catch the when they do so and then provide them with that.

I also would like to know about internet marketing in any other language than English. It would be in this order: Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, German, Hindi.

    Best wishes

    Hi Rolf,

I’d say use a survey if you have a list.

And if you don’t have a list, place a survey on your blog or website.

I use Google forms for my surveys … it’s free and stores the info in an excel spreadsheet.

    Here’s a YouTube guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC1L0wpmqlY&feature=related

Many marketers use the free version of http://www.surveymonkey.com/ which is just as good.

I think the easiest thing to do is 1) ask 2) provide what your customers asked for.

    Hope that helps, Paul

Hi again Rolf, I just realised I didn’t answer the second part of your question.

Can I recommend an affiliate program which I use which i rate very highly?

It’s the only program I’ve ever seen that gives you marketing tools and landing pages in different languages.

I even tried using it on Facebook ads once and got some sign-ups … I have to admit I didn’t even really know what my ads said, I’d just used Google translate to be as sure as I could :-)

Here are some examples, not all the languages you’re after I’m afraid:

    http://de.sitesell.com/websiteacademy.html

    http://es.sitesell.com/websiteacademy.html

    http://nl.sitesell.com/websiteacademy.html

    http://it.sitesell.com/websiteacademy.html

    http://cn.sitesell.com/websiteacademy.html

    How cool is that?

It’s a superb affiliate scheme, with loads of support, tools and guidance and well worth a look anyway.

Find out more (in English this time!):

    Hi Paul,
I am very interested in how to set up blogs such as this or the one that you are giving away. I enjoyed your webinar og GiveAway events and unfortunately have missed out on seeing the ones afterwards.
Are you able to go thru the sales funnel process-slowly.

Hi Bruce, in my subscribers only webinar last week I set up two WordPress blogs live on the screen to show how it can be done.

    Check out the replay here:

Can I also recommend some friends of mine who do detailed WordPress coaching:

Please tell them Paul Teague sent you if you sit in on one of their excellent free webinars.

  32. Paul Teague says:

    Hi Graham,

It’s best not to deliver e-goods that way.

You add them to a landing page, then send the link to the landing page in the email.

If you sent the zipped file in an email, it would be a large email and may be very unpopular with your subscribers as it would ‘clog up’ their emails.

So add your ebook link to a web page and send that link in the email.

The additional advantage of this is that you can also add affiliate bonus links on the download page.

    Does that answer your question?

    Hi Paul,

I really enjoyed your first webinar and I am looking forward to the next one!

The most important information that I would appreciate is concerning product delivery.

Presumably you upload your eBook – together with graphics etc in a zipped file to your autoresponder?

Your comments would be much appreciated.
